Qurate Retail Group Announces 5-Year Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Goals

Inclusion Responsibility

February 11, 2021: Qurate Retail Group, a world leader in video commerce, today announced specific, five-year goals for how the company will support and advance underrepresented groups on the company’s leadership team and across its workforce, vendors/suppliers, customers, and communities. The goals build upon Qurate Retail Group’s commitment to championing empowerment and belonging, protecting the environment, and curating products responsibly – the three pillars in the company’s corporate responsibility program. Qurate Retail Group has pledged to inspire a more sustainable way to retail – intentionally inclusive, entrepreneurially driven, responsibly curated, and waste-smart.

The new diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) goals are organized into six broad DE&I commitments:

Qurate Retail Group is also launching a review of its processes for hiring, evaluating, and promoting talent, along with other business processes, to address potential bias and ensure a level playing field. The DE&I goals and commitments are available to the public on Qurate Retail Group’s corporate responsibility dashboard. “We are determined to cultivate and promote inclusive environments that provide equity and a sense of belonging for every team member, business partner, customer, or community member we touch,” said Mike George, President and CEO, Qurate Retail, Inc. “For us, this is both a human issue and a business issue. We believe that a culture of diversity and fairness can fuel engagement and innovation, leading to better business performance and stronger communities. We know we have plenty of work ahead of us, but we intend to do what it takes to make a meaningful difference in this space.”

By the end of 2025, Qurate Retail Group has pledged to generate $100 million in total charitable contributions, with $50 million directed towards women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, and complete 100,000 team member volunteer hours. The company will infuse DE&I into this commitment by working closely with its Team Member Resource Groups to increase contributions and volunteer hours targeted to organizations building diverse talent pipelines and working for social justice. This is part of the company’s community involvement efforts to better support systemic change.

Qurate Retail Group’s new DE&I goals and commitments are part of the company’s commitment to Championing Empowerment and Belonging. In September 2020, Qurate Retail Group announced its intention to inspire a more sustainable way to retail: intentionally inclusive, entrepreneurially driven, responsibly curated, and waste-smart. This corporate responsibility program includes three pillars:

  • Protecting the Environment through sustainable packaging, energy-efficient operations, and shipping and logistics.
  • Curating Products Responsibly, by sourcing and manufacturing responsibly, promoting human rights in the supply chain, and scaling the use of sustainable and responsibly sourced materials.
  • Championing Empowerment and Belonging, by promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within our own organization and those with whom we choose to work, in our product assortment and presentation, and by supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs and our communities.
